Welcome!
This is not a traditional blog but a template for developing a fictional character. It is my hope that this will give you a solid starting point, and I have no issues with you altering it for your personal use as long as you don’t resell it.
For especially newer writers, I feel the need to add that very little of this information has to be seen directly by your reader. This is more to help you organize your ideas about your character. I use this template mainly as a tool for continuity (You don’t want the same character in a novel having 3 eye different colors, as an extreme example) and for getting to know my characters so I can write them more easily.
For me, when the characters in a story are well-defined, plot becomes a lot easier as well. Rather than being direct with this information in your story, it is my recommendation that you find ways to bring out traits about your character through their actions. It is how we learn a lot about people in real life, and it improves the interest and pace of your story or novel. Also keep in mind that it’s not just what a character does but how and why he or she does it.
My educational background is in psychology and mass communications, so a lot of my brainstorming ideas follow along those lines rather than a purely literary standpoint. For the most part, it has been an advantage for me. Other than wanting to grow more precise and complex with my characters myself, I’ve never had any major issues thinking up characters.
This template has been a major help.
Best wishes to you and your writing and thank you for stopping by this blog. I hope it is a blessing to you. For free writings tips and samples of my own work, visit my portfolio by clicking here.
Take care,
